Physics Homework Policy
Standard Grade
- Homework booklets are issued for each topic and they cover present work.
- The homework is issued on a weekly basis.
- This homework is marked using a variety of methods e.g. peer marking in class with teacher sharing the marking scheme and marking less means more.
- In addition students are issued Past Paper questions in S4 to revise previous topics.
- This is usually marked in class with the teacher sharing the SQA marking scheme.
- In addition students are issued with a target each week e.g. to revise and redo worked examples in their notes. They must show evidence by producing a mind map or summary of the key points in notes and clearly set out solutions to worked examples. A short class test is given on this work.
Higher Grade
- At the start of a Unit, each student is issued with a homework booklet covering the topics in class.
- 1 or 2 exercises per week are issued from this booklet covering current work.
- Homework questions that students find difficult are peer marked in class with the teacher sharing the marking scheme.
- In addition Past Paper questions are issued to revise previous topics.
- This is marked in class with the teacher sharing the SQA marking scheme.
- Students are set a target each week to revise the key points in their notes and redo worked examples. They must provide evidence for this in the form of a mind map or summary of the key points and set out their working clearly when redoing examples.
- A short test based on this target issued in class.
