       HOMEWORK POLICY
          
INT   INTRODUCTION
 
T           The department firmly believes that homework should only be given to pupils, only if it is of benefit  to their learning.
 
             A departmental overview is as follows:
 
S5/ S6      FORMAL HOMEWORK
 
A formal piece of homework is given out every topic, based on past exam questions.
 
The purpose of this homework is to enable pupils to learn exam technique related to specific topics.
 
Pupils are given at least one week to complete this – if this deadline cannot be met, we encourage pupils to negotiate a new deadline.
 
Formal homework amounts to:

*It should be noted that once course is completes, past paper questions are issued as formal homework once a week.
 
INFORMAL HOMEWORK
 
Homework is given every night in the form of reading over notes given that day, and answering questions.
 
This should take approximately 15 minutes every night, 5 nights per week.


 
 
S3/ S4      FORMAL HOMEWORK
 
A formal piece of homework is given out every 2 weeks. Pupils are given at least one week to complete this – if this deadline cannot be met, we encourage pupils to negotiate a new deadline.

S1/ S2      As this course is practical; we believe that giving ICT classes homework will not add value to their learning, as we cannot guarantee that pupils will have access to computers outwith school hours.
