My name is Niall Marshall and I have taken over the post as Active Schools Co-ordinator for Rothesay Academy.
Over the coming months I hope to make the pupils of Rothesay Academy more active than ever before by consolidating the existing sports clubs within the schools, organising for our pupils to attend events and competitions and by introducing fresh, exciting opportunities for all pupils to participate in.
In order to make this happen though I require the help of everyone in the school! I would encourage every single pupil to come meet me and tell me exactly what sport or activity it is you wish to experience. Whether it is cricket or cheerleading, handball or hip-hop and whether you are an expert or a total beginner I am extremely keen to have your thoughts and help you get any ideas you may have off the ground. I am delighted to report that already I have had pupils along nipping my ear and consequently a Basketball Club looks set to get re-established within the school.
Furthermore I would be over the moon to have the involvement of staff with the supervision of these clubs as without the generous extra-curricular support from staff these opportunities simply would not exist for our Academy pupils. I hope to meet most of the staff over the coming weeks so my advice is lock those staff bases as I’ll be out and about harassing and recruiting!
I have been delighted with the warm welcome I have received here at Rothesay and I am extremely excited about working here. I can be found in the Staff Study of Rothesay Primary School on a Tuesday and in the P.E. Department Base on a Thursday and the rest of the time can be contacted on niall.marshall@rothesayacademy.argyll-bute.sch.uk so please do get in touch!
