Welcome from our new Principal for Rothesay Joint Campus

I am proud and privileged to be the Principal of Rothesay Joint Campus and look forward to meeting and working with you all in the years ahead.
We want Rothesay Joint Campus to be inclusive and focus on the achievements of our young people. We want to be a campus where everyone regardless of their skills, ability or role feels a sense of welcome and belonging. A Campus in which the needs of the individuals are met and education of an excellent quality is provided, enabling all learners to reach their full potential. I hope this is a vision parents, carers and the community will be able to support and work with us to achieve.

I look forward to your anticipated support.

WB'S BLOG

Happy New Year to you all! We were delighted to welcome our pupils back to school, all be it, for a rather cold start to 2010. Our Janitors put a massive effort into ensuring we had an accessible car park, safe paths and safe access to our external areas. Thank you to them for their hard work.

For our fourth to sixth year pupils there is a great deal of hard work ahead for the rest of the school year. Parents are reminded that departments offer a range of support for pupils in preparing for exams and that pupils should ensure they are making the most of this support and their own study time.
On January 22nd a group of pupils will be participating in a planning event at Mount Stuart. The event, Bute 2020, will be chaired by Jim Mather and will focus on discussing ways in which the economy of Bute can be developed. We are delighted that our pupils have been invited to participate. On the same day Mount Stuart is hosting a Burns supper and 5 of our hospitality pupils will be working alongside their chef to prepare the meal. Watch out for a report on both events in our next newsletter.

Attendance and late coming both have a negative impact on learning and teaching. We ask parents to ensure that all pupils are in school for the start of the school day at 9am. We also ask you to ensure that pupils attend school unless advised not to do so for health reasons or exceptional circumstances.  It is not acceptable that pupils are absent from school to go shopping and family holidays should not be booked during term time, in line with the Scottish Government advice issued along with this newsletter and also posted on our website. Parents and pupils are reminded that attendance at school discos is dependent on good attendance, punctuality and behaviour.

Thank you for your anticipated support in 2010.
